DJ Shadow - "Endtroducing..."
Welcome
This is a blog I made to share some of my favorite albums, and albums I think everyone should hear. The essential albums in my opinion, all genres, any time, any place. I hope some of you enjoy these records, and share them with others. If you like what you hear, please buy the album from the band. If you are in the band and you would rather people don't check out your music just let me know and I'll take it down.

What does your soul look like?
This is NOT a rap record, it's barely even a hip hop record. DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing..." is his first record, and it is the first instrumental album to be created entirely from samples of other records, ever. This record is so diverse, you have hip hop parts, jazz parts, psychedelic parts, and is great record to just relax to. Or maybe work on homework to, or possibly do drugs to. I actually don't know about that last one, but maybe? Forget any preconceived notions you may have about DJ's and check out this record. And yes, he's white.

It hasn't been my day for a couple years...
What's a couple more? Ahhhh. Jawbreaker. One of my all time favorite bands. They can get me through anything. This record "Dear You" is the soundtrack to high school. Definitely their most produced and successful album, but easily my favorite. Most diehard fans would choose 24 Hour Revenge Therapy. But I just find this one so much better musically and more depressing, so I guess I lose punk points. Songs like Chemistry, Fireman, Jet Black, and Sluttering are perfect. And this album has one of my favorite songs of all time, Accident Prone. If you like more recent bands like Brand New and Alkaline Trio, then see where they got a lot of there influence. Enough of me blabbering, let the music speak for itself. Ladies and Gentlemen, Jawbreaker's Dear You...

Sunshine girl is sleeping...
This is the most beautiful album my ears have yet to hear. Perfect naptime record, or rainy day album, etc. This to me is this pinnacle album of the so called "shoegaze" explosion. Not as noisy as most bands of the era, but so melodic. Glad I finally got my hands on some sort of vinyl reissue of this. I guarantee you will fall in love with this record after one listen. So if you don't know press that link there at the bottom and enjoy.

We still dance to all the wrong songs
This band changed the way I saw punk rock and hardcore. Seeing the music video for New Noise was my first exposure, and it changed everything. Cliche I know, but whatever, this album is incredible.Electronic parts, spoken words, references to other artists, fucking violins! I will never get tired of this one. Wish more bands could impress me as much as this one does when it comes to hardcore music.
Refused - "The Shape Of Punk To Come"
p.s. I know these albums are kind of staple albums and most have them. But I'm hoping maybe someone doesn't. But I'll post more obscure things as I go.

don't forget the songs that made you cry and the...
I'm gonna be using this blog to post albums that I hold close to me and want others to hear or check out. That being said I'm gonna start with a post on my favorite band, and my favorite recording by them. This collection is actually the Peel sessions, i believe, but with a proper release. Without further ado...
