Give up the Ghost, American Nightmare, American Nothing, whatever you want to call them, they are one of my favorite hardcore bands. Overrated and cheesy, probably, but I can't help but be drawn to it. Heartbroken songs about love, sex, drugs, youth, and death. This is their final album, and in my opinion their best. In a world of sluts, we keep this wet dream alive.

Today I am going to post about one of my all time favorite songwriters: Elliott Smith. It's a shame he took his own life (or did he?) by two knife stabs to the chest. Those these songs are really sad as Elliott suffered from depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction, they also maintain a certain beauty to them. It's a shame that we lost such a great musician and an even greater mind. This is his first album, it has less instrumentation and more of a lo fi recording then his later work, which is why it's my favorite, but all his stuff his great so check him out. Kill Rock Stars.
